It was in Portsmouth, Hampshire in the United Kingdom, that Amanda Louise Holden was born. Her parents are Frank Holden, who is her father, and Judith Holden, who is her mother. Both of them are of British ancestry. As a child, she grew up in Bishop Waltham, which is a town in South Hampshire.

There was a time when Amanda was a member of the Little Theatre Company. Later on, she transferred to Swanmore Secondary School, where she attended for two years. During her time at school, she participated in theater performances that were sponsored by the school.
