In 1994, Jo Koy quit college to become a stand-up comedian and joined a Las Vegas comic drama club. He then moved on to Catch a Rising Star’s open mic night at MGM Grand Hotel and Casino. He also leased the Huntridge Theater and began performing there, where he was discovered by a Los Angeles talent facilitator who offered Koy his first TV break on BET’s Comic View.
