These stories below can lead you to success.

The Last Attempt

Once upon a time, there was a mighty king ruling a kingdom. One day, a foreign visitor came to the court and gifted the king a beautiful stone. The king was delighted upon seeing the stone. He decided to have a statue of Lord Vishnu carved from it and placed in the kingdom’s temple, entrusting the task to the prime minister.

The prime minister went to the best sculptor in the village and handed him the stone, saying, “The king wants a statue of Lord Vishnu to be installed in the temple within seven days. You will be paid 50 gold coins for it.” The sculptor was thrilled at the promise of 50 gold coins and started working on the statue immediately. He took a hammer and struck the stone, but it didn’t break. He struck it multiple times, but to no avail.

After fifty attempts, the sculptor decided to give it one last try but stopped himself, thinking if fifty strikes couldn’t break it, the fifty-first won’t either. He returned the stone to the prime minister, declaring it impossible to break. The prime minister then handed the task to a simple sculptor. This sculptor, in front of the prime minister, struck the stone once and it broke. He then started making the statue. The prime minister thought, “If only the first sculptor had made one more attempt, he would have succeeded and earned the 50 gold coins.”

Moral: We often face similar situations in life. Sometimes, our confidence falters before even trying, and we give up. Other times, a few failures discourage us from further attempts. But persistence is key to success. You never know, the very next attempt might bring success.

The Taste of Lemonade

A professor was conducting a class, and all students were listening intently to his lecture and answering his questions. But there was one student who sat quietly and gloomily. The professor noticed this but said nothing. After 4-5 days of observing the same behavior, he called the student to his office and asked, “Why are you always so sad and quiet? Don’t you pay attention in class? What’s bothering you?”

“Sir, it’s just that something happened in my past that keeps troubling me,” the student replied hesitantly. The professor, a kind person, invited the student to his home that evening. When the student arrived, the professor went to the kitchen and made lemonade with extra salt. He handed the glass to the student, who took a sip and made a face due to the salty taste.

Seeing this, the professor asked, “Didn’t you like the lemonade?” The student replied, “It’s just that there’s too much salt.” The professor then said, “Let me throw it away and make a new one.” But the student stopped him, saying, “No, just add some sugar, and it will taste fine.” The professor then explained, “Life is like this lemonade. The excess salt represents your bad past experiences. Just as you can’t remove the salt, you can’t erase those memories. But you can add sweetness to your life to balance it out. Focus on creating sweet memories now.”

Moral: We often dwell on past bad experiences and fail to live in the present, affecting our future. We can’t change the past, but we can create new, happy memories to sweeten our life.

The Shark and the Bait Fish

A marine biologist placed a shark in a large tank of water and added some bait fish. The shark quickly swam towards the fish and ate them. The biologist then placed a strong, transparent glass divider in the tank, splitting it into two sections. He placed the shark on one side and added more bait fish to the other side. The shark, seeing the fish, tried to attack them but kept hitting the glass divider. After many attempts, the shark gave up.

A few days later, the biologist removed the glass divider. The shark, having accepted the imaginary barrier, did not attack the fish anymore, believing it was still there.

Moral: Repeated failures can create mental barriers, making us believe that success is impossible. We must overcome these barriers and persistently strive towards our goals, as success may just be one more attempt away.

Nelson Mandela

One of the world’s greatest figures and awe-inspiring leaders, Nelson Mandela redefined revolution. After being elected as the first black president of South Africa following the country’s long struggle against apartheid, he symbolized a new dawn for those who faced the worst expressions of misfortune. With a heart full of passion and a smiling face, Mandela became a force for reconciliation in his fight against apartheid.

Even today, America faces significant upheaval and actively protests against racial discrimination, with black people still struggling to be seen equally in a world that discriminates based on skin color. This blog, Motivational Stories in Hindi, aims to explore Mandela’s educational journey, his leadership in the revolution against the oppressive white regime, and the lessons we can learn from him to create a better and more equal world.

“No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.”

What set him apart from other revolutionaries of his time was his nonviolent and defiant campaign against the South African government and its apartheid policy. For his significant role in his country’s freedom and his commendable efforts as a human rights advocate, Mandela was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993, along with other accolades such as the Gandhi Peace Prize and the Lenin Peace Prize. Mandela wrote extensively about his experiences, sharing inspirational and influential quotes on freedom, equality, and the power of love and compassion.
