Michelle Branch was arrested on Thursday after striking her husband after an altercation, just days after she declared the end of her marriage to Black Keys drummer Partrick Carney.
According to an affidavit in the case acquired Friday by The Times, the "Everywhere" singer was detained after Nashville police were called to the couple's house on Thursday for a potential domestic dispute.
ranch informed police investigators that she and Carney "are experiencing marital troubles and had been arguing" when they arrived at the couple's house, according to the criminal court document.
As their disagreement heated up, Branch acknowledged hitting Carney "one to two times" in the face.
The singer was detained hours after publicly accusing Carney of infidelity and before the singer announced the dissolution of the couple's three-year marriage in a statement on Thursday.
Branch said in a statement to People and TMZ, "To say that I am absolutely devastated doesn't even come close to describing how I feel for myself and for my family.
