Steven Smith created the New Balance 550 in 1989, but it did not achieve widespread popularity until 2020.

With its soft leather construction and canvas upper, this "Desert" version of the shoe resembles the original Aimé Leon Dore design.

The upper is covered in beige hues reminiscent of the colours found in the Sahara Desert, while the heel features brown accents.

The traditional "N" and "550" branding appears on the shoe's lateral quarter panel and along its spine.

The design is completed with stability clips across the outsole, complemented by a soft white hue for added effect.
