'Perilous misogyny' Andrew Tate has been banned from Instagram and Facebook.

Instagram and Facebook have banned controversial online influencer and self-described sexist Andrew Tate.

According to a business email, the former kickboxer and reality TV personality was fired for violating Meta regulations "against harmful organisations and individuals."

Tate initially came to public attention when a video of him hitting a lady outside of the Big Brother house leaked in 2016, prompting the show's producers to boot him from the competition.

Domestic abuse organisations have labelled his social media remarks "extreme misogyny" After he tweeted in 2017 that women belong in the house and rape victims "have responsibility," Twitter banned him permanently.

Tate's sexist men's counselling videos have gained a following. Tate called himself a "misogynist" on YouTube. "Realists are sexist," he said. Realists are always sexist.

"Internet sensationalism has spread the myth that I am anti-women, when nothing could be further from the truth," he stated, adding that he had donated to women's organisations. "I am completely innocent."

Tate was a vocal Trump supporter and has been on rightwing podcasts like Infowars, hosted by Alex Jones. Tate has become "hard to avoid" on social media, and he had more than 4.7 million Instagram followers when he was banned from Meta.

TikTok has blocked Tate's official account and is removing violating content. More than 12.7bn people have watched Tate-related videos. Hope Not Hate dubbed Tate a "dangerous sexist" and urged social media firms to deplatform him.

A TikTok spokesman claimed misogyny is a horrible philosophy. “We've been eliminating violative videos and accounts for weeks, and we welcome news that other sites are too.”
